Director's Message
Welcome to the Graduate Studies Office Web Page!
On this page you will find general, as well as
specific, information on graduate studies at the
University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, which includes
the
on-line application process as well as information
on entrance requirements, academic programs,
registration fees, cost of living, options for
financial assistance and contacts to obtain additional
information. If you are already a graduate student at
UPRM, you will find information and forms on this page
that you will need to reference at some point during
the course of your studies to complete your master’s
or doctoral degree.
By clicking the link “General
Information”, the section on “37 Graduate Programs
at UPRM” will take you to a
video
outlining the departments that offer master’s or doctoral
programs at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. Starting August
2009, the Department of Physical Education started offering a
master’s degree program in kinesiology, although they will not be
admitting new students for January 2010.
Effective November 17, 2008, we transitioned to a new
system for enrollment utilizing Hobson’s Apply
Yourself (AY) for August 2009 regular admissions. With
the exception of original transcripts, conduct
certificate (a recent requirement by the Academic
Senate) and test scores (where applicable), the entire
application process, including the letters of
recommendations is meant to be online. The AY System
allows you to monitor the application status
continually, including the final decision letter.
However, owing to relatively low numbers, all visiting and
exchange students will continue to use the
one-page
downloadable paper application available
on our website. Effective August 2009, applications
for professional improvement admission are NOT
being processed by the Office of Graduate Studies;
instead, the
process is being managed by the Office of the Registrar, or by the
Admissions Office, as applicable.
The Office of Graduate Studies counts on a
dedicated team of members who can be contacted
to answer your specific questions. Our goal is to
simplify procedures to the extent possible within the
existing regulations (see Memos of OEG under Resources
and Documents) on our website.
We trust this information will help you plan your
academic and professional future. If you have any
questions, please send us an email at
egraduados.uprm@upr.edu.
